Sometimes in life, it’s hard to know what to expect. Days seem hopeless, and you are just at a loss of what to do/say. In this song, we are told, pure and simple, that when you don’t know what to say, just say Jesus. This band is a really cool group of guys. They were at Camp Electric last summer when I was there! If you want to read more about my time at Camp Electric, click here. The lead singer, Mikey, taught one of my vocal classes one day. He is totally amazing! My friends and I got to talk with him alone about music, what inspired their band, and his journey in figuring out that music was what he wanted to do with his life. It was awesome! Let’s dive right in to this song, shall we? I just love how simple and pure it is. Check it out. “Life gets tough, and times get hard It’s hard to find the truth in all the lies…” It’s all too true sometimes "If you’re tired of wondering why Your heart isn’t healing And nothing feels like home…" Sometimes it’s just all too hard and you don’t feel like you are getting anywhere… either running in circles, or staying in one place. It’s hard to feel satisfied with where you are at these times! “When you don’t know what to say Just say Jesus There is power in the name The name of Jesus If the words won’t come Cause you’re too afraid to pray Just say Jesus” Just say Jesus! There really IS power in His name. His name has the power to get you out of evil situations and to bring light to darkness. Just say JESUS. I love how this part is said, “If the words won’t come cause you’re too afraid to pray, just say Jesus.” I think that, often, we are afraid to pray. It may be because of something we’ve done, or because we don’t feel worthy of His help, or because we just want to do something on our own. “Whisper it now, or shout it out..." "...Just call out to the Way, the Truth, and the Light” Check out the song: Does it have the same effect on you that it does on me?

In life, there are many, many challenges and heartbreaks. So much pain, sacrifice, and hopelessness. But also there is life, hope, healing, and success. God is always with us! Even when you feel completely alone, God is still with you. He will never, ever leave. This song is such a beautiful, beautiful story of what God has done and what He has promised to do in our lives. Every lyric in this song is powerful and beautiful. I can't resist sharing... "There are days I've taken more than I can give And there are choices that I made That I wouldn't make again I've had my share of laughter Of tears and troubled times This is has been the story of my life" There are definitely choices that I have made that I wouldn't make again. I at least hope that I wouldn't. I've been through plenty of ups and downs, mostly downs, but I have so many amazing moments to look back on and to love. So many people who have impacted my story and helped me through it. "I have won and I have lost I got it right sometimes But sometimes I did not Life's been a journey I've seen joy, I've seen regret Oh and You have been my God Through all of it" A lot of times, as humans, we fail. Throughout the story of our lives, there are times that we regret and times we wish we could have back. God has been with you through all of it. "You were there when it all came down on me When I was blinded by my fear And I struggled to believe But in those unclear moments You were the one keeping me strong This is how my story's always gone" God keeps me strong. When I am not strong, He lifts me up and gives me the strength miraculously. He always gives clarity when we are patient and trusting. "I have won and I have lost I got it right sometimes But sometimes I did not Life's been a journey I've seen joy, I've seen regret Oh and You have been my God Through all of it Through all of it" You have been my God through all of it. "And this is who You are More constant than the stars up in the sky All these years of our lives, I I look back and I see You Right now I still do And I'm always going to" You will always, without doubt, with no failure, be there for me and be ready to pull me up and put me on the highest mountain. God, You love me so much that You gave up your OWN SON so that you could have my respect and my love. So that You could be my Father and save me from darkness, from evil, from self-destruction, and from sin. You love me more than the stars and more than the world. You have always been there for me. Looking back, I do realize that You have always been here. Always. I know, with all of my soul, that you will never leave me. No matter what I do, no matter what is done to me, no matter what others think of me.... nothing I could ever do or be is outside of Your love for me. You will always love me. #prodigal These words are so beautiful.... Think about these deeply as you read one last time... "I have won and I have lost I got it right sometimes But sometimes I did not Life's been a journey I've seen joy I've seen regret Oh and You have been my God Through all of it Oh and You have been my God Through all of it Oh and You have been my God Through all of it" Watch the video/ music video of this song. Follow Colton on Twitter: @coltondixon Stay tuned! Follow me on twitter @lifeasemilyhope This song was published some time in 2012, and I just found it the other day! Such a beautiful song, helpful in the darkest times when you just long for forgiveness. Sin is a deep trap that you just can't get out of without Christ. You can fall hundreds of times in the same exact trap, and feel like you don't deserve forgiveness. You repent every time but somehow you always fall again. You want to go to God, but you feel like you can't go to Him when you've sinned against Him, to His face, yet again. Look into these lyrics: "You refuse forgiveness like it's something to be earned sometimes pain's the only way that we can learn" "Sometimes pain's the only way that we can learn" In certain situations, we fail to learn the key lesson until we've fallen many, many times. In those instances we have to realize that, yes, what we did was wrong for sure, but no matter how recent you fell or how many times it has been, God still is waiting for you to ask Him for forgiveness. He wants us to want it. He will always forgive us, no matter the sin. We learn from our mistakes when we talk to Christ about them, and look to Him for the way out. God has given us the power to choose who we become, and to choose every day who we want to be. "You can never fall too hard so fast so far that you can't get back when you're lost where you are is never too late so bad so much that you can't change who you are" I think we fail to realize that we don't have to be our past. Our story is just how we got to where we are today. In the same way, we don't have to be who we are today. If you're not satisfied with who you are, you can change that. God will always help you if you ask Him to. Even if your biggest mistake was yesterday, or this morning, it does not have to define you. You choose who you are, and you are not your mistakes. Go to Christ! He's always willing and able to help and to forgive. You have the choice and the power to change, because you have Christ! "I can do all things through Christ, who Try to really think about what that verse means, word by word. So many things are lost when we just listen, but don't HEAR. I can do all things through Christ; He gives me the strength to do all things. Don't let your past define your future. Choose Christ. Check out the song below: Click here to download on iTunes.
Follow Unspoken on Twitter! @unspokenmusic Tweet me your thoughts: @lifeasemilyhope I recently fell in love with this amazing song by Plumb. Let's just jump right into the chorus, shall we? "I don't deserve your love But you give it to me anyway Can't get enough You're everything I need And when I walk away You take off running and come right after me It's what you do And I don't deserve you" Despite all of things we do, the good and the bad, we do not deserve God's love. Still, He always wants what is best for us. He loves us, always, no matter what we do. No matter what we think! He is everything, and we need Him. Whether or not you are a Christian, you need Christ. I am a Christian, and I need Christ! I have Him, and He will never let me go. I wouldn't want Him to! Everyone has those times in life where they are trying to figure things out- 'Why am I here?' 'What is the meaning of life'? 'Why do I believe what I believe?' No matter how far you try to walk away from God, He will never let you go. He is holding on to you. He wants to protect you, and love you. We don't deserve a love like that! We sin against Him every day- betrayal, disobedience, and confrontation. We don't deserve Him. ...but He loves and protects us every single day. He is my love. Having a relationship with God is the most beautiful thing...ever. Take a look at these words: "I still can't believe that you're right next to me After all that I've done" "I don't deserve a chance like this I don't deserve a love that gives me everything You're everything I want" "Your heart is gold and how am I the one That you've chosen to love" "I don't deserve your love, but you give it to me anyway" Beauty. This is a beautiful song written to God by Sarah and her husband when things weren't going so well in their marriage. They were struggling, but God was faithful. In Sarah's words: "Here is a song I wrote with my husband. This is a declaration of God's goodness throughout our journey of life. It hasn't always been easy and there's been some real tests and trials that we've walked though. But God has always come through and His word never fails us. I pray that if you're struggling or doubting God that this reminds you of His hope and faithfulness. It may not always look like what you think it should look like, but I promise God's got an amazing plan for each of you. Even when you can't feel him, He's there. Keep your head up. His love never fails." -Sarah Reeves This is such a worshipful song for me. It starts out: "Even when I cannot see, you are moving Even when I cannot hear, you are singing over me and even when i can't hold on, you won't let me go- you are faithful" This song reminds me of God's faithfulness through all the stuff that goes wrong- sins I keep falling into over and over. Even when I can't see, He is still moving and working in my life. It may be in indirect ways, but He is definitely working out a greater plan that I can ever see. Even when I can't hear His voice, He is singing over His creation with joy- and that's for me. Even when I can't hold on to Him, or don't truly want to, He will never let go of me. I can be falling so fast but His grip will never loosen. He is holding on for my LIFE. He saved me on the cross, and He saves me every single day. He won't let me go. I love the lyrics. Even though they were struggling, they still praised God for being good to them: The lyrics go on to say: "Even when I run away, you will wait for me to come back home.. I'm coming home" It is a struggle to want to know God and actually listen to Him. It's especially hard sometimes to do what He says. Everyone struggles with that at some point, in different ways and on different levels. But in the end, the struggle isn't the important part. It ALL adds up to what you decide to do now. Please come back home. He has open arms, waiting for you to speak with Him and love Him. He will never stop watching for you or hoping you will follow Him. This song is such a beautiful reminder that I am not my past. My past doesn't define me! God is faithful in all things, and He will never give up on me. He will never leave. Amen. Tweet me @lifeasemilyhope If you've clicked around my site or social medias at all, you have probably seen me reference this song several times, and say that this song connects very deeply to my life in the past few years. For all of you that have been wondering what I mean by that, here is the story: I have been a lazy teenager. I was taken out of middle school because I have was having personal problems, and therefore was home schooled for all of high school. It wasn't fun. I never, ever got any work done and spent my days watching TV shows and procrastinating. Honestly, I should probably be in 11th grade this next year. For my senior year, I took some classes at my local college, in a program that allows teens to take all of their HS classes at the school for a diploma AND dual credit. It was a really good idea. Just so you know, however, at this point I've decided to just take the TASC test and be done with school. The reason for this leads into this song reference... Over these few years, I have felt.. asleep. Dead. Like I'm just waiting for LIFE to come in and shake me awake. Probably 80% of this comes from how I take care of my body. Or don't, rather. I don't eat properly whatsoever, and my sleep schedule is totally wacky. I want to feel awake, but I don't want to sacrifice my addictions to habit. I want to feel alive. I am in the process of waking up. I know that you can't change bad habits overnight, but I'm moving toward those steps to get me into a good routine, and a way to take care of my body and... live. Not spend all day on Netflix or laying on my bed contemplating life... I actually want to get up and DO something! I saw a quote on Facebook the other day... not sure who posted it but it said "What you allow is what will continue." I hope to encourage you all to think about this and what it is really saying. You have a lot of control over what happens in your life. If you are in a bad habit or situation, most of the time you have the ability to change that, and not let it continue. I'm talking to myself here; but I hope that we all can learn this lesson together. This song connects with me in a beautiful, healing, wonderful way. This is my story. My life. NF is so real. Listen... Here is "Wake Up" by the amazing, HONEST, deep NF. Dig it, analyze it, download it. Love it. Dig it? Click here to download on iTunes.
